A $79.99 Toniebox Arrives Without the Games or the Bedtime Features

The cheaper box plays every Tonie a child already owns, though the older starter set at $99.99 comes with a character included and narrows the saving to $20.

The Toniebox Lite goes on pre-order today at $79.99 in the US and $99.99 in Canada, and it plays every Tonie a family already owns. What it does not do is run the bedtime routine. The sleep timer, the sunrise alarm and bedtime mode stay on the more expensive Toniebox 2, along with the interactive Tonieplay games and the light ring that glows while a story plays.

On tonies' own US store the flagship lists at $129.99 for the box on its own and $149.99 as a Starter Set with a character Tonie included, so the Lite saves $50 against the bare box. Against the older Toniebox 1 Starter Set, still listed at $99.99 with a Tonie in the box, the gap comes down to $20.

The library is the same whichever box a family buys. The Lite is certified for children aged 1 and up and works with every Tonie ever released, more than 1,500 characters and over 3,500 digital titles from around 350 partners including Disney, Marvel and Warner Bros. The parental controls carry over too: playback and volume limits run through the tonies app, as on the Toniebox 2.
