XS and XL SNOO Sacks Are Being Recalled Over Their Fit
Happiest Baby is offering a refund, a replacement or a gift card to anyone who bought one of the two sizes directly, and says no injuries have been reported.

If your baby is sleeping in an XS or XL SNOO Sack tonight, take it off and stop using it. Happiest Baby has voluntarily recalled both sizes and is asking customers to discard them. The company says it has received no reports of injury connected to either size.
The Sack Is Half the Device the FDA Authorized
The SNOO was never authorized as a bassinet with an accessory. The FDA cleared the bassinet and the sleep sack together, as one device, in 2023, through a route called De Novo authorization. Happiest Baby's own FDA page puts it plainly: the bassinet plus the sleep sack “are jointly intended to facilitate a supine position during sleep.” The sack is the half that holds a baby on her back, so its dimensions are part of what the FDA signed off.
The Two Sizes Came After the Review
The small, medium and large sacks were in the submission the FDA assessed. The XS and XL were added later, so the agency never looked at them, and it has now told Happiest Baby it needs premarket authorization for both. The XS is three quarters of an inch narrower and two inches shorter than the authorized small, and the XL is half an inch wider and three inches longer than the authorized large. The FDA said those differences could leave the fit too loose or too tight.
The Bassinet and the Three Middle Sizes Are Not Affected
The recall does not touch the SNOO Smart Sleeper itself, and the small, medium and large SNOO Sacks are not included. Sleepea swaddle sacks are also unaffected, including the XS and XL Sleepea, which have no wings and are made for use outside a SNOO.
The Refund Comes as a Replacement, a Gift Card or a Check
If you bought an XS or XL sack in the US directly from Happiest Baby, you can file a claim for each order you placed. The form is for the original purchaser and asks you to confirm you have stopped using the sack. You can take a replacement in small, medium or large, a gift card for the refund amount plus a complimentary $10, or a check in the mail. Happiest Baby says it will email claimants with instructions within the next few weeks.
